Fault Code......... Do i repair or scrap??
« on: 20 February 2010, 09:50:54 »

I have three fault codes that have come up on my 2002 2.2 CD.........

P1130 02 sensor circuit high voltage (Bank 1 sensor 1) C-30

P0170 Rich / Lean Exhaust C- 30

P1555 Throttle position sensor (TPS) load signal not plausible with engine load C-09

I have been told by my local garage that code P1555 will cause codes P1070 & P1130 to appear and to fix the problem they are quoting me £600 +.

Any guidance or information on this would be much appreciated as i have not got a clue what all this means  :-/

Cheers, Mick

No, runs rough from cold and stalls until warm but then runs as if it were missing, revs drop without any movement of the pedal............ if that means anything to you?

OK, before resigning to a new throttle, clean out the breathers and the throttle body (guide in maint guides section)...

If the car ran ok,normally the ecu in vauxhalls have a tendancy to throw up old codes that was never cleared properly, but as for being quoted £600 i reckon they are out to rip you off mate,if i were you i would get one of the lads on here close to you to see if they can help you out,i never take my car to a dealer, and never will.If the truths known its probably only one of those fault codes thats causing the trouble, but has a knock on effect triggering others off. :y

If they dont know if it will fix it, they haven't diagnosed it properly!!  With a good code reader (with live data), its an easy one to diagnose.

Like suggested, get someone with a good code reader to give it a once over, but I can tell you from experience, a duff ECU can throw codes up, leading you to go on a hunt for non faulty parts as well as making the car run poor, or not at all.

If it does turn out to be a faulty ecu (god forbid) there is a garage who is on ebay that can supply you with a replacement ecu, chips etc tailored to your car. costs about £250 or there abouts..  worth bearing in mind if this ever happens to you.

Clean the breathers and throttle body to start with......live data would possibly show a MAF issue....

Omega engine ECUs are so reliable, I would only even ever contemplate changing one as a last resort.
