abs tc speedo not working!!
« on: 25 February 2010, 14:47:38 »

Hi Guys just been reading the standard problem with the abs tc light on and no speedo, and every thing points to abs ecu change. but mine is intermittent some days its fine others not!  Could there be something else going on or is this normal before it stops completly? 2.5 v6 1999.

Exactly the same is happening with mine.  I'm thinking the ABS sensor's could do with a clean, although I do have a spare ECU just in case.

Mine tends to be fine when I first start in the morning, then after a short while, the lights come on, steering gets heavy and no speedo.

I plugged it into "My Naff Code Reader" and the Wheels were all reading the same speed when hacking it around the block though.

Its in its last "death throws" and will possibly continue like that for some time ,or drop stone dead.
Loads of posts regarding removal/refurb.....expect refurb cost of circa £130 + and from my own experience BBA reman seems to be the most reliable for repair and turnround time.....where are you located ??

Exactly what I had to start with ....  slowly got worse .. then eventually was a permanent feature .. :(

BBA-Reman refurbed and returned the ECU in 5 days ... :)

Probably worth checking all sensors gapped right, and no filings built up on them (free to do).  But I think we all know where this is heading  :'(

Bugger.  Perhaps I dont have a replacement ECU as previously hoped.

My breaker Omega is a 1995 and mine is a 1998.  Both 3.0 Auto.

Any suggestions as to whether it might work?  In fact, I just know it wont.

"My Naff Code Reader" says mine is ABS 5.3/5.4 (+TC)

Whereas the older type is ABS 2SE (+TC)

Dont suppose you would know which years would work?

I take it the ECU has to be from a Saloon, not an Estate?

"My Naff Code Reader" suggests the ABS ECU is the same all the way from 1998 onwards, but I fancy they would be different on facelift models?  When did the 3.0 cease production?

Ignore "My Naff Code Reader", its good at lies.  Also, all post 98 use 5.3(+tc on v6). But they all carry different configs

Go for the ident code.
