oil filter removal on v6
« on: 17 October 2009, 16:03:36 »

Thinking of doing an oil change and checked which filter is fitted. I have the type with the replacement element fitted, tried to move it but is tight and noticed the whole container unscrewing from the engine block. Sure I have read somewhere there is a modification available to convert the filter to the canister type?

Get a metal band type filter wrench and tighten it around the housing, grips it nicely while you undo the lid. Inside there's a 27 mil socket holding the housing to the block, you'll probably need to tighten that up before putting the new filter in.
