Header tank flush additive?
« on: 04 May 2010, 14:32:22 »

I'm just doing a coolant flush and change on a Y32SE.
The header tank is full or crud, in its past it had an oil cooler failiure...which was rectified.
What, if anything can I use to clean out the header tank?
The sides of the tank are covered with crud, using a screw driver to scrape it off works, but I can only get to a small part of it.

Plug the holes, half fill it with hot water and add a dishwasher tablet. Then....

Thanks all, phoned my local motor factor, and he's just delivered a can of Wynn's Cooling system flush for free. We'll see what happens when I use it.

Josh - flush it through with water daily for a week, if still bad, use Forte Cooling System Flush for Oil Cooler Failures.

Then get it to 50:50 antifreeze.

I have a handful of cleaner bottles here, take your pick!

Don't forget to book Tunnie's drive so we can play with those lamdas....

Thanks TB  :y
I used the Wynn's stuff and it seemed to do the job well.
Must've flushed it a good 40 times, starting the engine letting it cirulate them emptying.
Finally it just ran clear water, and it's now a 50/50 mix of new fresh coolant.
That's a good point, I did nearly forget that...Kai said he's coming over tomorrow I think it is, in the evening.
Would it be ok if I come aswell , or would another evening be better?
And I'll have to check with Tunnie aswell  ;D rather than just book his drive without him knowing.

I suspect you're welcome over to his any time, though doubt we'll get time to play with yours after we've done Kai's.

I think privately Tunnie muttered Saturday to look at yours, but not sure if he's working?

There's no rush...so ultimately whenever it suits you and Tunnie will be fine with me. I've PM'ed Tunnie to ask when he's available  :y
