I have a mint 2003 Omega Estate 2.6 V6 CDX Estate which I would like to have converted to LPG.

There is a bewildering choice of systems and prices out there.

Can anyone offer advice and recommendations on the best systems/installers?

I live in the West Mids/Warwickshire area.

DIY, its scary some of the things 'professional' installs do such as drilling and tapping injections with the manifold in place 

Stag Kit is well used here, on both 4 pots and V6's, it works well!

tunnie I agree with you, there are a lot of bad installers. Hopefully someone will recommend a good one.

While I am OK with a set of spanners, I changed the timing and Aux belt myself I am more than a little reluctant to undertake this job.

If you can do a cambelt, you have the nouse to fit LPG, if you take your time and research it

If you buy the stag system there are quite a few members on here who know plenty about it and will give you plenty of advice. There are also how too threads with pics etc,
As Tunnie says there are plenty of horror stories about "professional installs,including drilling manifold in situ, which would ruin an engine after a while.

The more me thinks about a DIY job the less appealing it plays. I wouldn't have a clue where to start if it all went wrong.  Just in case there are any unforeseen problems, much better to have someone who has at least done it before.

Yes, it is scary, but its actually not too bad if you plan it right.

No need to rush - do tank/filler one weekend, front end another weekend.

There is nothing hard, and there is a lot of knowledge here on the Stag kits.

Mine cost approx £580 from memory.

Teilo was always a good supplier, but after he was unable to reply to my correspondance, I ended up purchasing it from ebay...

Teilo is, as James said, the person I would recommend you using (PM on it's way ) but he can be hard to get hold of. If you have the time to be patient it's worth it as his kit price includes everything you need (apart from some bolts sometimes) and is very competitive.

There are quite a few on here who have converted DIY and, as James said, if you can change the Timing belt you're perfectly capable of doing an LPG conversion... It's not particularly complicated if you tackle it methodically. I'll be writing up the V6 guide in the next few days but if you read the 4 Pot guide in the Maintenance Guides section you'll get an idea

If you fit a standard, torpedo tank I believe you can get a 100L tank in... I've got a 90L (400mm Diameter) tank which, although fiddly to actually get in, fits fine under the shelf when in place... The 100L (400mm Dia) tank would also fit, although it would need to be a fraction (about 30mm or so) further rear than mine sits.

For ease of fitting I would still advise an 80L tank TBH... The mounting bolts come out in a better location than the 90L ones

VXL V6 - I'm up for a little local co-operation. I'll PM you when i start the project.

Also, Good question... I would like to know the best option for the estate. I understand that it could be a little restrictive on size, having to fit in the spare wheel well but I don't see the point of loosing the benefit of the load capacity of the estate. Just means a little journey planning before any long trips.

Shame you cant replace the petrol with an LPG tank and install a small petrol reserve in the wheel well.
