Timing tolerance
« on: 21 May 2010, 21:19:04 »

Hi folks,
Just a quick question here as I can't find any information elsewhere.

What is the maximum error in timing before interference on a V6? In this case it's a Y26SE.
Say one camshaft had one tooth wrong, or all cams?

I have to take off my cover tomorrow and have a look to see if there's any wear on the belt and how the tension is. Might as well have a look at the timing when I'm in there.

I have some trouble finding the source for my misfire/wobbling sound when flooring it below 4000 rpm. Actually had a EML light today, but that was just the air temp sensor plug that fell off (missing the locking clip) :(

Generally up to 2 teeth is OK, 3rd tooth often means tears at bedtime

Thanks guys :)
Then I might get a feeling how bad things are when I dismantle my old engine and checking my new one.
