gearbox bits in sump pan

hi guys.dropped the sump pans from the gearbox cos its been playing silly beggars the last few days .decided to change oil and filter but discovered bits of metal and plastic like a seal or ring.ca see where it came from but ive got a bad feeling about this,any thoughts or help much appreciated

That is your thrust washer.

its box off and maching to repair...

I would probably source a 2nd hand box, be easier.

When I swapped mine, I did the thrust washer while it was off the car, as it is an easy job BEFORE it has done any damage,

.thanks guys.so its the dreaded trash washer.oh well.things always look better after 12 cold ones ;D

.2.2 gearbox swap

can anyone tell me is the turbo diesel gearbox same as 2.2 petrol one .is it a straight swap

They are both AR25, so would work - however, would recommend you fit an AR35 from a 3.0 :y

bell housing would be different as well as torque convertor, but the box is the same. But you really want an AR35 so you can chip it back to full BMW spec

Think the OP has a petrol mig. If that`s the case, no need to search for an AR35

Ah yes, just seen that.

Although - I wouldn't source an AR25 that's been on a TD... it will be a ticking timebomb...
