Vac pipe connection query on V6 air cutoff valve
« on: 28 May 2010, 19:39:50 »

Just noticed that there is an empty vac connection elbow on the top of my 2.5 V6 air cutoff valve for the emission control system.
Is there a connection to be made? - I can see no spare vac pipes needing a connection.
The solenoid has a vac pipe on it that comes off back of plenum.
I have a pic but can't upload into message.

Thanks Rob,
It helps a lot. It shows there is only one vac line to the sec air inj set up, which I have re-connected as it was before I did the cambelt and water pump.
It still leaves me with a spare connection so maybe it was always that way :)

Would like to be able to.
Tried to post a pic but can't insert it (just comes up with img/img in square brackets) - asked admin for help a while ago and got no reply yet.
Anyone know if levels of authorisation exist for members and I do not yet have that access?

Thank you for the link to the tutorial - I would not have got this far without it.

Here's the pic...

The red circle shows the empty connector.
The yellow circle shows the vac pipe connecting to what I believe is the air cutoff valve solenoid.

If I take the vac pipe off the solenoid and connect it to the empty connector I can hear a whirring sound which sounds like it should be doing something other than sitting there idle :-/
Any comments appreciated.

The angled connector your talking about should have a piece of Vac Pipe about 4" long in it and it goes virtically down straight into another connector. If you have a look I am sure you will see where it should go mate :y

Hope that makes sense :D

Yes, great I can now see where it should fit.
Anyone know what the description of the pipe is? Tried google/e-bay but can only find soft vac pipe with too large a diameter.

Many thanks for the offer Amba, it's very kind of you :y
I managed to cut a short length off another pipe which could spare the 7cm or so needed to connect it up.
All done now. Car runs no worse for it and is probably better that it's in place.
