Drivebelt Change Omega B/Catera: Best Shortcut
« on: 15 June 2010, 03:06:14 »

Any suggestion to change the serpentine/drivebelt auxillary without getting under the engine on jacks would be much appreciated.  My alternator/generator bolts are so well seized I cannot get near these.

I believe it all revolves around looping the Air Injection cross-over pipe.

Regards.

Top left pulley, as you stand infront of the car, is the belt tensioner. 15mm spanner/wrench on it and lever to the right will remove the tension from the belt to remove it. You're right about the air injection pipe. Lower right is a 6mm nut you've to remove to allow you to reomve the belt from behind it & feed the new in. It might be easier to remove all the 'bagpipes' so you can see what you're doing.  :y

As above - the small 6mm torx bolt is a bit difficult to get to and really awkward to refit.  15-20 minutes should see it done though :y

Thank you I could not avoid getting under the car it was too tight from above.  Once I took the plastic under carriage shield off the view was wonderful.  Much easier to change from there on.
