Instantaneous consumption.
« on: 03 August 2010, 09:43:55 »

Morning all,

I remember reading a thread  about instantaneous consumption- 0.3 gallons per hour being correct.
Mine shows 0.4 gallons per hour-what causes this?

All the best

If my aircon is on it creeps up to 0.4 gph.
Usually sits at 0.3 gph  ;)

my 3.0  is 0.3 gph with aircon off or 0.4gph with it on  so sounds about right for the 3.0(i hope).

Knocking it into neutral or park when in traffic helps.

Is your idle set correctly? Mine wasn't until recently (thanks Daz :y) and this was the cause of mine being way over the top  ;)

Its not so much a case of 'setting the idle' more of a making sure its well serviced, breathers cleaned, filters clean, timing set up right.

As with any car if its not looked after and well serviced fuel consumption will be poor. But 0.4 is nothing to worry about IMO :y

Ii is a little bit to wory about cause it usually means the car is running rich on fuel ( higher consumption)

I agree, but mine had been serviced, clean breathers and filters and the timing was ok. But some monkey had tinkered with the idle and it needed adjustment.
