CDX Facelift Wipers
« on: 22 November 2006, 23:46:51 »

Hi Guys

I mentioned this in passing, on another thread, but no one picked up on it.

So could anyone help? I have just bought a CDX 03 Facelift and just finding my way around everything.

My old motor is a GLS Pre-facelift and it had variable intermitant wiper control, that I found invaluable.

I was suprised to find no speed adjuster on the facelift.

I know some higher models have the rain sensors and that they were an optional extra on others.

But is is correct that my CDX dosn't have variable wipe? :'(

...so it seems that this feature died with the 2001 model....
on the plus side you do not have the annoying gota-take-the-key-out-of-the-ignition-to-open-the-boot feature...

Your has the rain sensors?

If so how do you know and how can I tell if mine does?

I checked mine tonight in Rainy Manchester and counted between wipes ( how sad am I )  ::) and it didnt alter no matter how hard or light it rained. It was about 8 sec's between wipes.  :-/

Donnow, don't have rain sensors... :(

Wait for a dry day, then pour a bucket of water on the windscreen and see if the wipers wake up????  :o

But just to clarify.

You do not think you have rain sensors? Now you have read the book?  :-/

Mine is a 2001 CDX, I definitely have no rain sensors, and I think they were not even available back in 2001, but only from 2002. My wiper control looks like the one in the top pic, with the round dial to control the delay speed.

The post from the Omega owner's manual is from a 2002 owner's manual, NOT from my own car's manual. Anyway my wiper control does NOT look like the one in the picture from the user's manual.

Hope this is clear....

Ahhhh

Sorry a bit slow, so yours has the manually variable  adjuster the same as my old GLS. They are great.

So have we found a new upgrade for the later Facelift owners? and does anyone know how it can be done?

If it can be done? [smiley=sad.gif]

Don't know which, :-/

Either would be nice. At the moment, I have a nice CDX but with niether, manually adjustable or automatic ajustable intermitant wipe.

Think I'll go back to my old GLS  :-/ At least i'll know were I'm going when we get fair weather drizzle in Madchester.

Our am I missing something?

Do you think the dealer will have the CDX back :-/ ;D

My 2003 CD doesnt have the variable intermittent wipers either nor does it have rain sensitive wipers.
I think on the later facelifts it was taken off because rain sensitive wipers were an option.

In another thread a while ago it was suggested that changing the stalk and relay would do the job if you wanted variable intermittant wipers.
However Mark spent time looking at this and suggested that as both his omegas both have the same relay just the wiper stalk may do the job.

Im trying to find a stalk to try it on mine........but trying to find one with a rear wiper switch on it as well.....is proving hard  :(

I believe the CDX from 2002 on did have rain sensors. It is up behind mirror, and fairly obvious...
