Hi Guys,

Do a paperclip test (see the link in my signature) and let us know if there are any codes stored.

I'm watching with interest......
Mine is doing this, not every morning though. Once it starts it runs perfectly. There are no faults showing though, Lee put it on his laptop.

Hi Guys.
Done the paperclip test it flashed a 12 and a 31 i didnt have the engine running so no fault codes??
Could it be a crank sensor on its way out??
Also i serviced the car about 3 weeks ago well oiul and oil filter.
Could that have anything to do with it??

Mine used to do this,  it was an early warning that the crank sensor is on its way out. you may eventually get code 19 but at that point you are likley stranded on the moors alone in the dark ;D

If you don't have a spare I would get it changed, £50 ish from Vaux with a trade card if you have one and an easy job to do.

Stongly suspect crank sensor on it's way out - same symptoms I had on my last Omega. It will probably fail to start completely at some point although you can still bump start.

Given the temperature has plummetted over last 3 or 4 days, worth getting live data from CTS as well

If you also have problems driving  on low fuel. I suggest also to check fuel pressure, had the same problem at starting. solved by changing fuel pump

did you check the plugs for any oil / water?

Also what happens if you unplug the MAF sensor?

100% Crank sensor. (ok 99% but thats where the smart money is)  not expensive and easy to change without even removing the wheels. EXACT same on mine, fixed.

no oil or water around the plugs
removing the maf  makes it worse
