Now thats blown it!
« on: 07 November 2010, 11:43:50 »

Reconnected my battery after running it down with my starting problems, went to crank it and something has blown( big bang and a puff of smoke) in the engine bay:

Fault codes 53 Fuel pump relay voltage low( already had this with the starting problems)

94 Hall sensor voltage high

73 mass air voltage low

57 Idle control valve voltage low

Where to start, are these on the same fuse or summat?

Don't bother with any replys as it's going in to a spark tomorrow and I'm off the pub to drown my sorrows! :) proper had enough of it and will go and buy a pug 306 as I heard they have more  reliable electrics  ;D

I guess so Baron, may have been the initial fault causing the non start and now it's blew completely. Going to play dim in the morning and get the AA to tow it to a spark.

I know you don`t want replys :D but it sounds like one of the fusible links has blown in the small box clipped to the relay box

;D Only joking about replys Rob, Either way I think the ECU is toast as I had the prob with fueling prior to the blow up. Anyone know whats required along with a new ECU? I guess keys, immobiliser and ecu would cover it  ::)

Was it like a very loud whoosh noise?

I'd say more likely a backfire through the inlet, rather than anything 'blown' - hopefully not a cause for concern..

More of a pop with a bit of smoke, tried a new fuel pump so thats ruled out, got to be the ECU methinks!

Smoke, or, combustion gasses?

Still reckon was a backfire in the inlet - can't imagine the ECU has failed.

Don't take this the wrong way, but.. the battery was the right way round, wasn't it? I've only known major electrical explosions with reversed polarity, huge overvoltage or incorrect jumping  :-/

What you need is this: http://www3.telus.net/bc_triumph_registry/smoke.htm

(Sorry .. hopefully that will make you chuckle at least!)
