Tailgate spoiler will fit pre or post f/l.

Bought a new vx tailgate last year (£120 stock clearance), and dealer confirmed only one part number for all mig tailgates '94-'04.

Pre & minifacelift spoilers (Irmscher)will fit each other.

Facelift (Prodrive) will not fit properly.

I have seen someone with a Facelift fit an Irmscher which looked a total mess, as he did not know they were different :(

this is where i get confused as you say the irmschers will fit each other  which in my understanding mean they will fit wherever but then you go on to say that you've seen an irmscher fitted that someone didn't realise there was a difference, I may be a bit cofuddled!, with all the praise that you have  Daz i wait for your answer with baited breath! thanks for your help, Rich.

EDIT: reading your post properly what you are saying is face lift is different to mini and pre :y Gotcha thanks for that, now to try my german and ask what year that actually came off!!! thanks Daz

Ok Rich let me try and explain myself a little better.
Someone I know has a Facelift car and asked me to look out for a spoiler for his car (a Prodrive was needed). The next time I saw him and his car, I asked what on earth had he fitted as Irmscher Spoiler to his Facelift was wrong, it did not fit properly, the contours are different and so he had tried to put sealer in the ends to fill in the gaps. He had it removed then had to have his bootlid filled and resprayed :-?

If your car is a Pre or Mini Facelift get an Irmscher Spoiler

If your Car is a Facelift get a Prodrive Spoiler.

Hope that helps :y

From your Profile you have a facelift. You need a Prodrive Spoiler. So ask if it says Prodrive or Irmscher? :y

well thanks again Daz for your Encyclopediac knowledge as you have deduced i have a facelift and the spoiler definately reads irmscher so i'm geussing unless prodrive is a variant of irmscher i shouldn't bother with the question to him, thanks for explaining this to me could have been costly!!

Another way is to find someone who wants to sell the whole bootlid which has the spoiler on it :y seem to go cheaper than just a spoiler over here weird I know but thats folk for ya :D also you wont have to spray it if you get one the correct colour:y

yeah theres one on whole bootlid( but €150 plus postage, and lets be honest that can't be cheap) but anyway wrong colour, so i geuss what that means is while all tailgates fit the same hole they are not the same shape!  i will keep looking and hope for the best, thanks again......excitement over :-?

Just to confirm you have an estate with a tailgate, and not a saloon with a bootlid? :-/

Quote
only one part number for all mig tailgates '94-'04

I have an irsmcher tailgate spoiler on my facelift estate.

As I understand it, pre/mini f/l saloons have a different (curved) shape along the back edge to the f/l ones, (which are squarer). This is why irmscher saloon spoilers don't fit facelift cars.

Pre f/l tailgate spoiler will fit your f/l tailgate.
