This is what happened to mine..

 from the previous owner. He also mounted regular shock absorbers because he said that with this sensor the car lifted ridiculously high. I wonder if i manage to improvise that pawl that is broken will it work again?? Have you encountered any sensors that simply are broken electricly? i am hoping that mine works perfect but it doesn't stop where it is suposed to

If I'm looking at that correctly, the missing bit is just a stopper for the arm.  :-?

From what has been posted on here in the past, this issue has been blamed on the pump not releasing air. The system pumps up an amount on start up, and sometimes releases air as required soon after. Over time the system pumps up gradually and ands up too high.... Afaik.

If you move the arm when connected, it should pump or release air accordingly.

And the pump can be heard running in the background of the pedal trick test video in paperclip test under code reading in maintanance section.

so there is 90% chance that the problem is in the pump?? can that be repaired or fixed??

i'm annoying i know but has anyone tryed to fix the pump??

My personal experience is that its normaly the ECU in the sensor.

Easy to prove with Tech2 as it wont respond to commands

Hence suggestion of testing the sensor when connected. If the pump comes on and stays on for a good two minutes at least then the car does not know it's own hight. I would say sensor fault...?

If the pump runs for the usual 5 seconds, or whatever seems normal in the pedal trick video, then might suggest pump problem, ESP if it's not heard to release air at any point.

But if tech 2 is available.....

the bearer of good news. will it show up on "My Naff Code Reader"? what comands does it has to comply when conected to diagnostic cable?

Plus I believe the pump is a sealed unit. But what's to loose if your sure it's the pump at fault?

i have a 2,2 dti so i guess the pedal trick is out of the question, and for my shame i have not tested teh sensor i already have, but will try to do it this afternoon if the time will alow it.
bottom line is that the pump should work for ~5 secs right? amd when i will "unload the car" there should be a sound of releasing air right??
