Aircon not so cold
« on: 22 April 2011, 20:57:59 »

Aircon was regassed two weeks ago and I'm quite disappointed with the performance. It was 25 degrees today and on LO with maximum fan speed it was not very cold. My last Omega preface was freezing cold with the a/c (obviously) on but with the fan off.

He'd have to say that cos the law says that you can't fill a system when you know there's a leak. Huge fines for doing so.

So would a slow leak affect the a/c blowing cold?

I recall him saying the was 50g of gas still in the system and it was pressurised. Anyway whats the next port of call?

i dont know if it vary's from car to car, but i remeber putting in 90+gms in there?? if he used dye with the regas, then go back to the guy! >:(
but before anything just check the valve, open the cap (little) and see if you can hear it leaking..

I would agree with Stallion - take it back and have it checked out. :y

It was a mobile fitter and my concern is if I call him he will tell me there were no leaks (that is if he remembers).

He did tell me before turning up that if the system could not be regassed for any reason, I would need to pay him £20 for his time so if there was a problem he would have taken the easy money (I would anyway). He works for a franchise called AirMedic and was recommended by someone here who has had their car done by him I believe.

If he used one of the new aircon machines they won't fill unless the system can sustain a vacuum for a set period indicating it's gas tight.

I think you're on reasonable ground here SM.

The purpose in having the system re-gassed was to have it produce cold air when you wanted it.  If it doesn't then there's either something wrong with the system or the job hasn't been done correctly.

I think the temperature from the vents when the system is set to Lo should be around +4 to +5 degrees C  :question - it should be easy enough for him to check this.

I would imagine that there was some sort of guarantee for the work done?

It does produce cold air, just not very cold. What do I need to measure temp at the vents. I might just buy it myself.
