autobox fault

got a 2001 2.6 v6 .when in drive the revs over rev and then the gearbox go,s thud and mil lite cums on,when switchd off then on its ok,its worse when hot.mil code says autobox request service,also have oil in coolent,oil cooler or headgasket.it runs great no over heating or running problems................  :-? help

Oil in coolant on V6 - oil cooler breaked  :(

fitted new oil cooler today and cleaned out coolent system,av done 220 miles and no oil in coolent. :y fanx for the help jus got to sort gearbox then i,m happy.  :D :y

I suggest you check ATF fluid levels in gearbox as a start. But I also suspect you might see a code 19 recorded and this will probably be related to the  Crankshaft sensor needing to be replaced. I had similar problems with my 2.5 V6 auto and full gearbox oil change and crankshaft sensor replacement cured the problem.  good luck with your fault finding.

I have a decent AR35 gearbox here for £50 including the torque converter if you are interested???

Ok mate, unfortunately Omegas arent worth a great deal in full working order...and like every car, a lot less when they are needing work doing :(
