Hi all
Further to my post of the 22nd may I returned to the garage to inform them of the ongoing problem of the crank sensor (driving OK for 2 weeks then cutting out continually) car was returned to garage picked it up after they told me no fault codes were evident, although I was still getting 0335 and 0340.Drove 200 yds down the road cut out on me as I went round a bend steering locked and I narrowly missed going into a wall.Back to Garage 4hrs later and a phone call I go back to Garage and the car is up on the hyd lift, the mechanic shows me that the problem is oil leak,I am assuming from the cam covers as I have purchased new gaskets from Andyc but did not have time to change them as I was overtaken by the crankshaft sensor problem. So here I am with a cause I am not sure is genuine .Next I take the car from the garage fortunately no charge get about 1/2 mile from home you;ve guessed car cuts out and I wait 5 mins try the starter off we go and I manage to get home Next step is to eliminate the oil leak and see what happens,to further complicate matters when I checked the sensor I saw that the cable was tucked up behind the oil cooler pipes and from a post on here I read that it was not a good idea to do that. I will try and reroute cable when I am doing Gaskets
My concerns are
1 Is an oil leak likely to cause my problem or is it B------t
2 How likely is it that tucked behind the oil cooler pipes will cause problems
3 Since the new sensor was fitted The car ran ok when cold but started acting up when hot, leave it to cool and it would start ,however the problem is now much worse and is cutting out hot or cold
4 Once I cure the leak should I cut my losses buy a new sensor from uk and fit myself, would have done the first one myself but needed to get the car back on road as my daughter was flying back to Uk in 2 days and I could not get one sorted .
Am not a happy bunny at the moment as I need to get the car running A1 as I am driving back to UK for a wedding on 17th June
would appreciate your responses guys, anyone over here on holiday in the vendee and feel like they could help! I could do with a good samaritan
