Oil pressure problem?
« on: 26 June 2011, 16:06:58 »

I had a suspected oil leak from the oil pressure sensor so I changed it today.

On a drive today at idle the oil warning light came on.

Why would this happen with the new switch?

Thanks Martin

Engine temperature was 93 or so

Any ideas anyone?

Do I need to drop the sump?

Is the old one faulty or the new one too sensitive?

Any MDTMs around?

well....youve changed the switch....

Possibility 1 - You have 2 Faulty switches.
Possibility 2 - You have an oil pressure issue.

Personally, I would be dropping the sump and cleaning the pickup pipe as that is a known problem.
Also gets you nice clean oil in, ready for monitoring.

I would hook up a manual gauge and see how much oil pressure you really have. Probably a faulty switch, as that's what you have changed, but you can't be too careful.
