Could someone please explain how the misfire/cat issue causes problems with the centre section of the exhaust.
Thanks, Mike.

Would say the misfire and the center box are not related faults. Misfire caused the smell which was only really apparent because the center box was knackered so made it more smelly in the car.

I don't realy know ,my exh was quite old and during the problem started to rattle thinking it was the cats breaking lose (i think original are metal ).when i took it off from the cats the left box inside had disintegrated .Mind I also just bent the back box off the pipes so it had had seen better days.

Thanks for the replies.
Reason I ask is that shortly after experiencing the misfire/egg smell, which was sorted by replacing the dispack, a load of wadding came out my exhaust.
Exhaust externally looked very ok (4 years old from Vx) and still later passed mot. Wondered if these two things were related and how. No idea if wadding was from end or middle sections.

This stuff will block your exhaust and drastically reduce power unless you get it changed mate  :y
