noise on car continued
« on: 29 July 2011, 12:37:40 »

Spent all week trying to find out where this noise was coming from but with no avail . Anyway took it to garage and they had a look ,said it sounds like the rear wheel bearing on drivers side so going to strip it down at weekend,
How easy are they to replace and have any one got any tips to pull bearing out and back in please.
  thanks   :y

can be not too bad...

can be an absolute nightmare

one of mine involved removing of trailing arm and a sledgehammer to remove it!

pop the new one in the freezer overnight to shrink it slightly to aid refitting.

have a strategy and back up plan...

once you get part way through this job there is no going back and your car will be stranded till complete.

Hope he's good....the bearing will disintegrate on removal, getting the outer off can be a nightmare....hope you are VERY good with hammer and chisel.
