Marks_DTM is correct - they bend over backwards if they think you will cancel.  The thing is, be prepared to go through with the cancellation as well ;)
Never had Sky, the prices are ludicrous! Not much decent stuff on telly anyway.  ::)

I tend to agree, we pay £39 a month and still struggle to find anything, what we tend to watch is on freeview anyway and we still have a digi airial from before, cant remember what it was called.
 :)
Yeah, we're thinking of dumping Wirgin. Too bad no freeview in our part of town, but can get it over BT broadband with free PVR so considering that.

Whats PVR is that their telly thing, if it is we can't get it here, they got me all excited at a promo thing to tell me I can't have it. Live a bit in the sticks. :D :D :D

Hard disk video recorder. Free with BT b/c they want you to pay to download on-demand stuff.

I live in a nice-ish town and no Freeview.  ::)

There are two England's, London and a few 'suburbs', and everywhere else that they try to pretend is the same. It looks the same, it costs the same, but it isn't. Either that or people are deluded about how nice London et al are. I haven't been there enough to tell for myself. The digital switchover is going to be a switch off for us despite having bought the equipment. Will they let us out of the TV license when we can't actually receive anything with our TV? Yeah right!  >:(

Do you mean you can't get a signal?
I have only been to London a few times, lived in Hertford for 7 years though. Was last in London in 2001, stayd in a hotel, went for a wander out, full of beggers, quite indimidating even when I was fit.
Can't see myself going back unless it is to collect my Euro lottery winnings!!!!!! :D :D :D

I think this change over is a mistake, I do not think that most of us realise the full extent of the issues, all our kids telly's are not going to work, indoor ariels are not going to work, our radio's are not going to work.
yes freeview kit is cheap to buy but it does not work, in most area's, on indoor ariel's, Ive tried.
May be that the south east is better covered with strong signals
Leave more oof time though :) :) :)

It's rare that there's something on TV that keeps me from being on here at the same time. Most of it just can't hold my attention that well.

I dont know if this is the right area for this post, but here goes.

Does anyone know how to re-align a sky dish?
High winds have knocked mine off line, SKY want £55 just to move it back again.
After giving them £40 a month for at least 5 years you would think this would be a complimentary service.

Can anyone help me?

i had this a few years ago some little buggers chucked a rope around my dish and pulled it out of alignment, now i knew sky would want some cash to sort this so i decided to fix it my self,

first of all go to the services button on your sky box then goto option 4 then 6, you should see a signal meter and quality meter, now get some one to watch this while you go and reposistion the dish when you get about 3/4 signal on both and the lock on says yes it should be all good :)

Original reasons for switchover were more channels, less interfearance, proper 16x9 support, and able to interleave channels properly. Oh and to release spectrum for HDTV.

Now it is to sell frequncies to make money >:(

Thanks for your assistance guys.
I bought a signal tester out of BnQ,  crap.

Phoned SKY, someone will be coming out to give us a brand new box on friday.
Result!

Be wary however, SKY will always try and pass you off with a recon box.

Plus I got a credit for the telly which we shall be missing.

So cheers guys.

PS, Sorry if my question interrupted your wee discussion, mike f and thelodian. ;) ;D

We've known for years about the switchover, but even before Christmas (when I was buying a new portable for kitchen) people were still buying analogue only TVs.  Muppets.  If these neanderthals are that stupid, serves them bloody well right.  And if they have the balls to say the government sound help them buy new equipment, I will shoot them and do the world a favour  >:(
