help car not start
« on: 29 August 2011, 14:56:04 »

hi all ,hope you can help me . i went to work and car ran fine came to it after work and again started and ran great. Then while on the way home i lost all power and the car came to stop in middle of a island (not good )
After looking at it i have found that there is no fuel getting through when i press the pressure release valve. The car will try and turn over but not start .
The relays only make a noise once then nothing unless i take them out and back in again
Fuel pump not buzzing when ignition switches on
Any ideas of what this could be as im back at work later and going devon in 2 weeks .
thanks alot . really need to get this sorted asap.. :y

If the spanner light is staying on, need to get codes read, possibly an 0335. Any spark at the plugs :question No fuel, no spark = crank sensor

Faulty crank sensor doesn't always throw a fault code.
Your fuel problems could be result of bad crank sensor - as RobG says above "No fuel, no spark = crank sensor" - check spark at plugs mate.

Fuel pump easy enough to change on an estate. Cheap ish too, 'bout £50 iirc. :y

Being an auto, could it be the selector switch? :-/

Fuel pump relay's are quite common failure items on Vx's, I think there the red/purple ones located under the bonnet.
