Mis-firing under load

Evening,

Last one for tonight, honest  :)

My car is missing under acceleration. It's ok when cruising at a steady speed but struggles to  accelerate. I thought it was possibly the plugs, when I changed them the plug recesses were full of oil.

I see from other threads this is not unheard of on the V6 and is the rocker box gasket. I'm guessing this is the same on the lowly 2.2?

Would this oil cause a misfire? I can't honestly sav I know if oil conducts electricity  :-/

yes, oil in the wells will cause a missfire, it will bugger the leads & eventually the diss pack. new gaskets required.  :y

hot oil fries the rubber sleeves and  coil pack,then cause poor starting and slight misfire under load..feels held back ?

Thats absolutely it, almost feels like the hand brake is on.
New gasket at the weekend then and hope the coil packs are ok.

clean all the oil from the wells too. dont know if it needs breathers cleaning out also. not too good with the 4 pots.

may be worth buying a small plastic syringe with a short length of pipe attached to try and get most of the oil out before you take the plugs out to clean them..oil dropping into the pots really upsets the lambda sensors and that can lead to no end of trouble and cost, once the engine is fired up again..

On the V6 the only aspect of this to take 5 mins is the application of sticking plasters afterwards   :-[

Well in between getting pissed on ( I really hate this countries weather  >:( ) I replaced the cam cover gasket and o rings. It was obvious that the cover had been off before by the 2 pounds of gobbo all over the shop. What a mess!! ::)

Cleaned all the plug wells and coil pack. Put it all back together and.... Bingo!! No more missing, starts better too. Still a bit fluffy (technical term that) when cold but miles better.

However, it still feels a bit flat. Is it still possible that there could be an issue with the coil pack or is my right foot just not heavy enough?

Throttle body? Nobody said anything about a throttle body?  :'(

Checked the breather pipes were clear though  :)

I'm guessing it's out with the spanners again this weekend then.  :)
