CD changer help!
« on: 24 January 2008, 19:01:33 »

Hi all,

I have a cd changer in the elite but is doesn't work at the moment, I was told it just needs the fuse putting in, BUT where is it? Is it under the steering wheel in the fuse box or else where?

Thanks in advance

This may sound a little obvious, but isn't the fuse on the back of the changer, it is on mine.

Which changer is it? Blaupunkt or Phillips?

Without knowing details of the equipment being fitted, I can only offer the following.

Not all Blaupunkt and Philips changers are cross compatable, so make sure you have the correct one for your head unit.

The head unit must be disconnected from the power whilst the changer is being connected and power must only be restored when everything is plugged in. This is so the head unit will recognise the changer when first booted up, if plugged in afterwards, it may not recognise it.

Haven't checked but will check. Was told it needed a fuse by the last owner.

Not sure. I think it's the standard one fitted to the 3.0ltr Elite P reg 1997, if that helps.

Its The vauxhall fit head unit and the cd changer, if thats any help.

Others on the forum may be able to add to my database, but for the Omega, I have 14 variations of head unit and 11 variations of CD changer.

All would be classed as Standard Fitment !

You need the correct changer for the head unit, not just a "Vauxhall" one!

CD changer has fuse in cabin fuse box. Cant remember number (see M_DTM post in Tech Info), but its bloody obvious - labelled something like 'CD' rather than the icons the other fuses use :)

Right have checked the fuse box under the steering wheel No 4 is for the CD changer, NO FUSE. The cable for the cd changer is all there from the changer and connected. The changer is phillips and the radio is phillips as well. The stero is the SC 804 CD and the changer is the DC012. Is the radio compatible with this cd changer?

Good. Now next question

Why won't it switch on and why isn't it ejecting the cd magazine? What do I need to do to get it working?
