pre wired telephone
« on: 09 June 2008, 18:48:27 »

Help please, i know that omegas are pre wired for the telephone system, the book also states this and i have been told it also. i have looked everywhere for the black box, i was told to look behind the glove box, i have, to no avail, i have looked all over the place, both kick panels and behind the radio.....nothing.

Does anyone have any clues to where it would be, the car is a 2004 omega gls.
Thanks

I know many of the Omega stereos (ccrt700 etc) have the phone gubbins actually built into the phone itself - no seperate black box as far as I am aware - others may know better?

I don't think they are wired for a telephone system per se. Some have, as an option, I gather, the wiring to allow you to interface your own phones handsfree set with the stereo -- causing the stereo to mute when a call comes in and directing the call through the stereo speaker system. In this case I believe the wiring and connectors are to be found behind the glovebox ----- no connector -- no wiring, I guess

There is a connector taped to the air duct behind the glovebox, it has power, microphone and feed to the radio.

Vauxhall inform me that all omegas are pre wired and did say the connector is behind the glove box, i was looking for some sort of box as opposed to a connector.

Not all omegas are prewired. If it has the cellular aerial, it is.

16 pin connector taped to glovebox, aerial in kick panel.  Need an autolead, mic, and hf kit

It's taped to a bar at the top of the glovebox, unless you have 'gadget hands' you'll need to take the glovebox out.

On mine it was taped up with masking tape seperately to the other loom.

EDIT: As TB says, if the wiring / aerial is present you'll need the aerial link cable to join the kit to the roof antenna: 93160392 – Aerial Cable - £15.16.
