Steering wheel controls

Should they light up when ignition is off?

Are they LEDs or bulbs?

With the key out & car locked up? Mine are off then!  ;) but with the key out & the radio on, they are lit!

Mine come on whenever the radio is on, regardless of headlights, etc.

Ta. Not going to have a hit on the battery then.  Though looks like they go out after an hour or 2 anyway.

I have no idea why they stay on that long though...

Just been out to the car in the dark. S wheel lights did not come until radio turned on. Radio off lights off shut door lock car. S w Lights stayed on for a good 10 mins and where still on when i left it. Presume they stay on while the radio is still "live" and they go off after that time has expired. Never noticed that before.

Remember if fitting an aftermarket radio, the IGNition and PERManent lives will be swapped over - we all know how to do this for the head unit, but many of the aftermarket steering adaptors can often be wired incorrectly, so may be worth checking the wires with a meter at both ends of the steering interface box and altering accordingly.

Lights should go off when switched off / powered off, and for those that stay on, this needs to be checked, as its not just the led`s that are on, it is often powering external circuitry as well by default.
