Side light bulbs
« on: 16 October 2008, 17:37:42 »

I want a set of side light bulbs that appear as close to HID xenons as possible.Have tried a set of "blue 501 capsules" from Halfords but these give a very false light and look far too blue.Any body got any suggestions as to a suitable bulb,or have fitted any that don,t either look yellow or as above false blue.

iv got some suitable in mine but are very cheap looking packaging.
why do you want your sidelights to look like xenons?
if your just doing it to get all white looking lights rather than yellow to match with hids then just buy some decent philips sidelights.
the sky blue coloured bulbs look like hids (rather than the dark blue ones) if your unsure which to get

Only 'solution' I have found is White Led's

Halfords do Prism ones, which seem ok.

They are not however, road legal :(  But I have passed an mot with them in.

Useless illumination, but not a bad colour match.  I never only use sidelights anyway, If I feel the condtions warrant lights, Headlights it is.

I have had big longevity problems with the ebay ones, jury still out on the prism's.

What I want, is xenon filled sidelight bulbs, like the super brilliance type, but they dont seem to exist.

i thought that was what the osram/philips bulbs were? or 'vision plus' versions of the standard side light

So phillips vision/plus seem to be the way forward then ?are they standard 501 capsules,as I didn,t want anything that needs pulling to bits at MOT time and still want the light of side lights not just a feeble glow like these silly Halford blue things do..but in fairness they do say they are not road legal.

i think the ones you have matey are the very crap and dull dark blue ones which you can see shining blue even with the main headlight blinding you :P

i'll try and find you a cheap site with them on and yes they are standard fitting replacement bulbs
