Well, it would seem that the error was totally unintentional.

ILovemyElite like many of us on here got confused and saw Xenon and HID as being the same thing.  Either way we've sorted this out now, and looking through my pm's he's matched the procve which I was offerred a set of projector lamps from another sterling bloke on here.

Thinking about it, it's probably the same as an aircraft or automotive hydraulics engineer getting the raging hump because that's what plumbers call themselves as well!

I know that not so long ago I had to explain to a guy at work why Xenon bulbs were not the same as HID, and given that the lamps outwardly look the same, perhaps it's such an easy mistake to make if you don't know about balast packs etc.

Anyway, the matter is now sorted, and I have to say most amiably and amicably which says alot about the character of the seller.  :y

just to add to this, was a genuine mistake, the lamps look exactly the same as the ones on my elite, and the year and model of the car they came from suggests they should have been the same. having never taken mine out i didnt know that these lamps were supposed to have extra bits underneath... certainly wasn't trying to mislead which is why i put a pic of the items up next to the sale description.

anyway, as sev says, alls well that ends well, and at least its highlighted the difference between the different types of lights for those of us that didnt know before!!

Definitely an understandable mistake, the number of times people spout out HID or Xenon for projectors its bound to confuse people...the projectors simply have an H1 bulb for the main light...whereas the HID's have a D2S bulb which is powered by a ballast pack to produce a very high intensity Xenon gas discharge

And as said, the car the lights came out of should have had the HID lights...someone must have downgraded them at some point due to cost of replacing them if they fail...

I used to have them in the main beam of my Senator to try to make up for the lack of light. I never had problem with the Senator ,but I'd be dubious about fitting them to the plastic lensed Omega. :-/  :y

If your going on the illegal side...might as well fit some proper HID's and be done with it...no worries about things melting and probably less illegal...technically...
