Rear Blind not raising
« on: 25 October 2008, 11:57:42 »

Just fitted a rear blind and shelf to my 2001 CDX, fitted new switch, wired old plug wiring to new but when pressing the switch I can hear a clicking noise from the blind area and nothing happens :-/
Any Ideas? :(
Just going to get swmbo to press button while I help the blind up by hand............

Right...I've now removed shelf again (less than 10mins now I'm used to it) ::)

I've removed the blind from the shelf and slid the pcb out of the black plastic box (controller I assume) and when the switch is pressed the relays are just clicking :-/

Pics below of pcb and complete blind, does it look ok, are the arms the right shape and in the correct position, does the pcb look ok?

I did notice that the heads both on the control box mounting screw and the three mounting screws which hold the plate to the blind have been attacked with a very ill fitting screw driver.........someone has been dismantling it in the past :(

Will the blind rise & fall if you turn the end of the motor shaft - the little bit sticking out at the end? That'll prove the mechanism one way or t'other.

Cheers Andy, quick update.....................

I've proved the motor and mechanism are working by powering the motor direct with 12v and it rises and falls smoothly.

It is only when connected via the controller that the problem arises and causes the relays to click :-/

I suspect you will have issues with yours again as the arm on the right side in the picture is bent and needs straightening.

Seen this happen on a few following postage (and this is no fault of the packaging) and appears to be due to the awful way the postal lot treat them

What happens when this occurs is that the actuating cam goes over centre and the motor cant get it back.

What would be the best stuff to lubricate the rear blind. Mine works ok but is jerky. Dont know if there all like this. Would wd 40 be ok or silicone or a ptfe spray if you can get one.

I wondered whether it should be like that, I might try and straighten it out...

Can't blame postie this time as it was personally delivered in the boot of another members Omega

Easy enough to straighten.

Remove the torx screw from the spindle and the clips from the actuator end and you can take arm assembly off and get it in a vice....gently straighten it bit by bit and keep moving it along in the vice a mm or so.
