interior light delay

Jumped into the M reg v6 after it sitting for a couple of weeks, when I shut the door with the ignition on the interior light stayed on for the delay period that it should when the ignition is off.

Am I right in thinking that its the light itself that is at fault? as i dont have a spare one from this age of car, only the newer style.

On my facelift the delay period is the same whether ignition on or off :-?

My mini facelift switches the light off immediately if the ignition is on, sounds like either the timer delay system is fubard or one of the door switch has gone belly up.

Does the alarm allow you to deadlock all the time after you exit the vehicle, if it's a bit temperamental it could indicate that the door switch is sticking open?

Likewise, as were the Senators & Carlton beforehand. And our 2 Astra G's  :y

this is how all my other omegas behave, so thinking light unit or door pin as you suggest, Ill investigate in the daylight

I have in mind an alternative with a relay.....this would sort it all out and with the addition of a few components would make it based on vehicle speed and not keys in!

Doesn't that confuse the system so you can open the boot with the ignition running, hence the timer not realising that the ignition is on as the wire is disconnected / cut

The probelm with the hillper boot mod is that it fools the central locking ECu (which also controls the interior light!) into thinking the keys are always out the ignition!

The best solution in such setups is to tak the ECU output and the boot release switch signal and combine them (diode OR) into a relay ......

Rather have a confused light than prat about taking keys out just to open the boot :) :)
