The reason BOSE is attractive is because its a 6Ch 280W  Amp with 2x Subs & 4 speakers and it works with the cars original display and works with steering wheel controls without having to wedge loads of auto leads kits behind a non standard head unit

is it worth £200 no its not! the system cant deal with bassey music at high volumes and yes a descent head unit would pee all over it

i paid £100 for my bose system including CCRT,Mic,CCRTMID,Amp Shelf Speakers etc its now sat in the loft awaiting a project!

i may put it in SWMBO's Astra that already has a CCRT in it too!

a moderm head unit  would trounce it in every way

compaired to the stock system is is an improvement but spend a few hundred quid on speakers and a decent head unit and  the bose system really starts to sound a but duff

No doubt abou it....but can't really drop my headunit....cid and bc wont work then ....unless i go to MID...but i don't really like to swap CID to MID tho. I love my CID

Good price. .There would be no doubts with this price...

If you won't find a project...you can always ship them to Estonia (to me)

if your running a CID then you have that NCDC / NCDR stereo cant bose be switched on via Tech II then all you would need is an AMP & speakers

In ebay there are much higher prices and shipping to Estonia costs.

Is there need to switch bose on in NCDC2015, or only "Bose" logo in CID cos i've done that allready when installed my CID.

I think there is no wiring in rear shelf and i need bose loom and speaker covers for rear shelf. Don't really need new shelf with blind cos there is no point for blind when you have  black tinted glass. just would wind up price and shipping costs.

So I need loom, speakers, amp with large plastic "thing", covers.

scrub that 15kg sent via parcelforce is £80!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

is it really so heavy ~20kg?? Then it will be too expencive to even get it here.....

it's for the amp to sit in. Looks like this when partly installed.

Though I imagine you could mount the amp elsewhere and keep a bit more boot space.

Well...I have managed to buy my bose set. I paid ~82£ for system and another 44£ for dhl from germany. It didnt include plastic amp box and half covers that should go under subwoofers...

I checked the bose loom and it has blue connector for amp and on the other end there is grey connector, is it really all i need, just swap the loom? I have checked the wiring diagram in TIS but cant really figure out how it can work? Is there any wiring to do behind the radio? Allready know about programming ncdc.

Anyway just bought another bose set for facelift caravan(just do do little business....). Found it in car junk yard(where they sell used car parts) and removed it from car myself. paid 20£ for it:D.

I couldn`t agree more

Even if you could get the BOSE system to sounds its absolute best, and play it back through a set of BOSE speakers that did not show signs of having aged the last 20 years, you are still left with a system that although sounded reasonable(?) 20 years ago, does not compare in any way to any modern stereo that has evolved over the years. Audio technology has come a long way, and if you do not agree, then why are you all trying to fit iPods as well? (with the exception of TB who still likes listening to the wireless)

I know that many of you like to keep the originality of the head unit, and do not like the look of modrn ones, and I can fully accept that argument, but to faff around rewiring and adding hideaway amps for little gain really does puzzle me.

A good quality modern amplifier and a good set of modern speakers hidden away, yet powered by the existing head unit is going to blow away any BOSE system. And if you disagree and think that the BOSE is better, then I would certainly like to come and visit YOUR car audio shop for a side by side comparison.

Because its plug and play....the bose loom plugs into the existing, the speakers are easy to swap and require no adaptors, the amp bolts in place.

Its very easy to fit.

Aftermarket speakers dont fit easily in an Omega (adaptors and the like required), the amps require major re-wires plus additional supplies adding.

Plus the whole setup can be picked up for not much more than the cost of a good night out
