CCR2006 - CD multichanger

Just bought a new car and one thing that strikes me is that the door to the CD multichanger doesn't open and when I press the CD button it comes up with 'Magazine' on the display which indicates no magazine is loaded.

Could it be the magazine is jammed in there? If so, how would you get it out?

If it isn't in there and the door is jammed, how do I open it?!

repeated pressing is the only way, sometimes removing the power for a bit, then reconnecting can help it spit out.


Probably nearing the end of its life  :(

If there is a mag stuck in it, stripdown is the only option.

The CCR2006 or just the magazine? If the former I guess I'll just have to do without CD!

Just tried to get it out. Would you believe it? My radio keys or DIN keys or whatever they're called are the wrong size. Couple of nails inserted carefully into the holes totally failed to do the trick. Feel a trip to Halfords coming on...

Erm...my 2006 has Allen screws holding it in.

The allen screws just appear to be grub screws blocking the holes off, from what I can see. Took them clean out and it didn't budge. Assumed you must have to insert something in there to pull it out. Was that an incorrect assumption?

Never played with anything this new before!

Quite possibly, the Philips head unit in my neighbours Beemer had Allen screws inside the holes that you just unscrew until you can't unscrew any more (that releases the clips that secure it in the dash).

Well, if there are more in there then they're further back than my little allen key can reach... so one way or another it looks like a trip into town!

Mate, there are no more allen screws apart from the grubs you correctly identified as blocking off the holes.  The tool you need to remove looks like this but if you don't want to splash out (or wait!) the best alternative I know is to cut up an old wire coathanger and refashion into a similiar shape - insert, release and pull, easy as... ;)

There only thing holding the ccr2006 in is the 4 clips that you get the keys for, and a shit load of friction.

The 4 allen screws are just to prevent keys being inserted.

You do, on these bastard units, need to use very good quality removal keys, cheapies will struggle.

Be patient when trying to remove the unit ---- I saw my arse with mine and it cost me a fortune !

Halfords and Autoleads Keys seldom work on this model - spend an extra few quid on teh genuine Vauxhall ones as the ends are formed into a slighly better shape. This means that when you have your feet on the dash tugging away at the stereo like mad (and you will!) that the keys stay in place instead of simply falling out the holes every time you put pressure on them.

I'll stick to my single DIN CCRT700  ;) on the few occasions I've wanted to remove it, it's been a doddle to remove!  :y
