really does look like an impresive bit of kit!

Its not, NCDx sat nav is very poor and very basic.

You cannot do a postcode search, and sometimes you cannot put in the house number in the road you are finding, it asks you for an 'intersection' only which is crap if you have never been there so you don't know what roads it intersects with!

You will be suprised how many roads there are that have different postcodes and if you dont 'guess' the right 'intersection' you can end up in totally the wrong place

That opinion above is based, by the way, on using an NCDC 2015 for the last 2 months with the latest 2008 disc and updates, I also have the telematics, which is ok,  rest of system is basically the same as above but i also have the air con distribution options as part of mine
Its a decent, and VERY accurate system.  Yes, it can't do postcodes, that may or may not be a big issue for most.

As for the house numbers, it depends on the map, and both Navteq and Teleatlas (the only 2 mapping companies) are approximately the same for house number coverage (both pretty poor).

It lacks warnings for POIs, and no easy way to upgrade POIs.

Where is scores massively over handheld stuff is accuracy - no portable unit can get close to any fitted unit.

Hi TB, yes the screen is black / white with the GPS icon in the top right-hand corner which can be green, amber or red dependant on signal.
However the screen remains the same regardless of the lights being on or off, all my displays do fractionally dim when the lights are turn on.

Do you think I need an update? :-?

Depends if you like it like that. The other, more common, scheme is as per mine in the vids about.

Yours is the default after the CID has been reconfigured.

Not tried any further, not something I would use myself.  The datasheet for the cid shows it should be fairly easy

Not something I would ever use, so doubt I'd ever invest the time and effort in making something up to be honest.  Others may fancy a shot though :-/

Would guess you need to feed rgb in through rgb (need to investigate sync more), then get some kind of switching to tell the screen to go to rgb mode (much like the map display does). Or switch into lcd ribbon itself.

Because on my dash screen it only tells me the time date and outside temp. When you look at it you can see that the bottom part is blacked off.

Thats not a reason ;)

You are missing Check Control from your car, so you would need to diable that in the display to prevent lots of annoying warnings...

No, Miggy24 will have TID - can only display time/radio/temp.
