Noisy alternator

I had a big engine service this week, timing belt kit, water pump, "fan" belt, rocker cover gasket, spark plugs, oil etc. but the alternator was disturbed and has started whining - the garage said it was charging +14.55 volts and is working ok but that noise means the bearing needs changing - is this an easy job?

I have a very good condition 2.0 alternator here thats cheap as if you want it...

is there a tensioner fitted to 2ltr omega cos i dont know if there is might be that and a dam sight cheaper

I think a new tensioner would come as a part of the timing belt kit...?

S'funny my alernator bearing went within weeks, after cambelt, drive belt etc replaced.
Sounds a bit like a supercharger at the mo'  :)
I suspect new drivebelt just puts a bit more tension on the alternator bearing.
On the ever excellent advice on this forum i now have 2x bearings and a puller to do the job when the weather gets a bit warmer. total cost about a tenner including puller.

^  same here, though the service had made a huge difference to the car's performance, it feels much more lively now and the fuel gauge has "slowed down" a little  ;)
