is the small immobiliser chip still attached to the horseshoe bit of the key?

If thats all youve changed, £1 to 1p, its fallen out.

I have sort of similar - where my key will operate the central locking, but only after about 5 or so presses. Soon as it works, it carries on working seemingly until there is a fairly long time frame. Starts the car fine.
I thought 'resync time' so put key in ignition, turned ignition on, pressed lock and unlock - nothing. It will unlock the car when I sit in it and manually press the lock button down, then unlock with the remote fob in the ignition, but this doesn't sync it. also, it won't open the boot
any ideas gratefully received!

Are the switches on the keyfob ok?

They do tend to come away from the board, causing any button presses to become somewhat errattic

just a  thought?
