help changing car stereo

Hi
Have been trying to fit a new stereo ( I am by the way a female without a clue what i'm doing) I have got a philips ccr 600 at the minut and have got the unit out of the hole (lol) but the wires are still attached do I just go ahead and pull them out or am i going to do some serious damage ( mostly worried about a thick wire on the right hand side that i'm not sure how to remove  :-/

would say that is the arial on right side, what are you changing to???
if not sure about wires take the battery off,
also what model omega is it, need abit more info on what you want to do.

I have an omega 2.5l v5 cdx(if that makes any sense) 1998 I am just trying to swap the stereo for another one , but the old one does have a cd changer in the boot so maybe its for that? just not sure how to unattach the wires might have to take it to someone

they are normally all quick release and the wires should stay attached to the cage as you slide the old headunit out.

Then bend out the cage clips, pull that out, and unclip the iso connector and aerial lead.

then fit your new stuff, probably with an aerial adaptor and swapping red and yellow wires (permanent and switched live).

yes, you wont get em out like that..

seperate the stereo from the cage, and you can then unclip the connectors  :y

arrggg the stereo will not come out of the cage have pushed in the two clip things on each side but it will not slide out ,is it attached anywhere else?

they are abit stiff  move, put some bars in holes and prise it off with a flat head screw driver on the lip till it moves a bit.then should pull out

Back to Basics...

the holes often have tiny screws in them...needs a small allen key to unscrew them.

You can them insert the U shaped removal tool in each side, should click in to place.

Then while pushing them to centre to release the cage clips holding it in, pull the stereo from the cage.

If youve done that, and it doesnt work / make sense...can you upload photos to show what youve got?  It is possible, but unlikely that the stereo is screwed into the cage

well done...good luck with stage 2!

Is it 'just' a stereo to install, or remote control / display interface too?

Space is a little tight behind there if you need to get much in.
