d2s bulbs question
« on: 11 January 2011, 10:14:08 »

I know these bulbs degrade over time, but want to know how much do they degrade.
Bulbs on my mig are still original ones that came with the car (mig is  facelift 1999). The colour of the bulbs is still ok but I was wandering about the intensity of the light
The problem is that I have nothing to compare them with  (facelift omegas are very rare here)
Car has 189 000 km on the clock so the bubls were used relatively often.

A year or 2 back, we compared 2 mv6's at a meet, similar age and mileage

TB's had original bulbs,
mine had new chinese 6000k bulbs

There was very little difference, mine were a little whiter, but illumination was similar enough not to replace for the hell of it.
I would love to have had another car with new osram / phillips lamps too.

Thanks for the info JimBob.
I'd also like to see is there any difference between new Osram/Philips bulbs and old original migs.

I have recently ordered two Phillips bulbs to replace my original Osrams (one of which has blown).

I will let you know what, if any, difference there is  :y :y
