Message for elite Matt could you tell me what lead it needed and where it came from, went into the local halfords today and got the usual wet behind the ears teenager claiming to be an audio expert who looked at me like i was foreign when i explained the 2ohm Bose system!!!! i am looking for the exact set up you have managed to aquire.

Hi Rob,

I bought mine from Halfords and it was installed by them at there Romford branch. When I bought it they told me I would need the by pass cable for the bose system and they ordered it for me. They told me that there Romford branch had one of there specialist fitters which is why I ended up there as I live in Chelmsford, so It might be worth giving the Romford branch a call.

The parrot system as stated doesnt use the bose amp (hence the by pass cable) but it still sounds pretty damn good and the parrot system is superb.

I also went to see these guys in Chelmsford and they said they could order the cable,
http://www.chelmercarsound.com/index.asp

Any car that runs an amp like bose or harmmon kardon etc you need a by pass cable with the parrot system so it isnt impossible.

Hope this helps.

Matt

Not disputing what you have had done, but I`m struggling to see how it would physically work and connect? The term you are using of Bypass cable is confusing - what exactly do you think you are bypassing?

If you have the specific details of the lead / kit, then that would assist me (and others) as to how you have got around the problem. But tell me, does the sound come out of all four speakers, and does it also come out of the subs? If so, then I think I know what has been done, and the parrot has been "loaded" to drive the input side of the BOSE system (not 2 ohms, but a different range of voltages), and the term bypass lead is nothing more than jargon from the fitters.

I don't know the name or make of cable that was needed and I am not an audio expert thats why I suggested contacting Halfords Romford or the other company I suggested.

I have been told by several people that have this parrot kit fitted that they also needed a " by pass cable" if you have some sort of amp in the car. My brother in law had to get one when he fitted one in his range rover and was also advised he would need one on his BMW M3, both have a Harmmon Kardon system IIRC...

This is what Parrots website says for the Omega

"The installation of your hands free car kit needs a specific ISO adaptor.
Parrot does not sell this harness. Please contact one of our certified installers for more information."

Sorry I cant be of more help, just wanted to advise that it is possible to have such a kit fitted to an Omega because I have got one.

I will check where the sound comes from when my car comes back from the garage, it is away having cambelt and big service at the moment.

Problem is that many of these companies use us for tech support !! And we don`t know the answer.

Only concerned with the Omega, I have easy solutions for other makes of car

The lad in Halfords looked in some sort of parts catalogue they had in the store and ordered it for me, chelmer car sounds made a phone call to a supplier whilst I was in the shop to get price on the cable and they didn't say it would tricky or hard to get hold of.

I only went with Halfords because I got free fitting if I bought the Parrot kit from them which at the time was £200 plus whatever the "by pass" cable was (about £65 IIRC).
Chelmer car sounds wanted the same plus an additional £100 to fit it all in the car.

Neither company said it would be impossible to do just more time consuming to fit because of the bose amp that's all.

If you are interested in having this kit fitted give them a call.

It worked out expensive but it is a bloody brilliant bit of kit and works a lot better than some of the manufacturer kits that come installed on modern cars, my bro has a new Fiesta with a similar kind of thing, bluetooth and ipod or usb connectivity and it is shite in comparison to the parrot kit and I bet it cost more as an option new than mine did retro fitted.  :)
