Daft as it sounds, could make economic sense...

There are an estimated 11,000 foreign inmates in the UK, each costing the taxpayer over £100 a night.

So, in 1 month, government starts 'saving'.
And freeing space for British Scum ;)

Personally think, if an immigrant breaks the law, deport them immediately to their homeland.  why should we pay to look after foreign criminals?

i don't disagree, but they claim immunity because thay claim they will be persecuted in their own country for being a criminal, human rights then kick in and they are allowed to stay.....

if you have done something wrong then you should pay the price, and if that means deportation then so be it......

If really hacks me off when people talk about the rights of criminals. Is the reason they are in jail not to have their rights denied them as punishment?

.. and if they aren't able to think their actions through to their logical conclusion, even if that be deportation and subsequent persecution then they deserve whatever's coming to them.

Kevin

especially where murder/rape/serious phycisal assault has been the crime.........

my view is that the crime has deprived the victim of their human rights, in doing so you forfit all rights you have

maybe the £3000 does make economic sense.

I have always thought prisoners should be doing something useful or memorable to repay their debt to society. I'd like to see them building more prisons in between stints breaking big rocks into small rocks in chain gangs. They wouldn't be so keen to re offend.

They could still have their "human rights", all it would take is to say anyone offending from xx date will have these terms and conditions in prison.

Prisoners have a better life than lots of people on the outside.

i'm in the wrong job

Exactly. Sitting around smoking dope and watching TV is not going to reform anyone. And that's why the prison system doesn't stop re-offending, and is thus clogged up with scumbags.

i think its fair to say prison isn't the deterrent is used to be . so what would be the ideal deterrent ??
what would work, What punishment would be so bad that not only would it stop people committing  crime but act as a deterrent to professional criminals
