1. It wasn't me who sprayed it with yellow paint.

2. I have no idea what the sign actually says  ::), but let's assume hypothetically  ;) that it said 'Residents Parking', and no I don't have the parking permit for this area....

Yes, I live there. Got a problem with that?  :o

 ;D

It's a garage next to my office. They specialise in Yank cars, and the white car in front of me is a stripped-down Bristol waiting restoration (Bristol have Yank-car engines).

if there is no clear sign explaining parking rules, and that one has been like that for a long enough period of time that the council would have had time to fix it (as if someone's gonna complain!!) then i dont think you're breaking any laws...

have you recieved a ticket?

is it a one way road? my mum told me you have to face the right way on whatever side of the road you're parked on, cos of the reflectors in your rear light clusters...?

Don't know if I got as ticket, I just left the car there and went to my office, will let you know when I get back to the car....

My understanding that the UK was one of the few countries where you are allowed to park facing traffic - something which is illegal in many other countries....

It's clearly marked out as a parking area and no restrictions are displayed. That spraying over the sign looks almost like the paint they use to blank out signs that are no longer relevant pending their removal.

If they're patrolling it for illegally parked vehicles they should be checking their signs at the same time.

Can't see if there are any yellow paint markings on the kerb edge or upon the gutter.  If none, then as is said above - Plate is obscured/unreadable therefore IMHO, clear to park as long as no obstruction is caused....
