When trawling through the Forum from time to time (as you do ;)) I am constantly amazed at the parlous state of the spelling used by members who are UK born & bred! I have mentioned this before and been told that spelling isn't that important? but notice that members have been rebuked by Admins for using Textspeak (which I am in full agreement with). Now this apparent double standard does not make sense to me as i'm of a certain age, reasonably well educated for a working class bloke & know that poor spelling can, in certain circumstances totally alter the meaning of a sentence or statement, and in a mechanical or technical environment can have drastic consequences! Apart from all that, it is bloody annoying! It's like having an itch you can't scratch!! So for Heavens sake, if you're unsure of the correct spelling, check it first before Posting? 'cos you're causing unnecessary suffering to an old bloke and it aint right! ;) ;D

the thing is that not all people have had a good education .i had lots of family proplems growing up and became a bit of a tearaway and missed out on lots of school so my english and spelling isnt very good but i do try. i  do read it before posting but i just see the words and if i think they are right iam not going to change them.
but we are all diffrent.
for instance i wouldnt use f word that you have used in a sentance as i think it is offensive.

Over the years, i've proved many times that I can get my head round pretty much anything maths / physics / electrics / computers (when my heads in a good place) but when it comes to spelling .............. forget it  ;D

Thought about it many times and I put it down to 2 things.

1/  Mr Johnson ( my english teacher from the age of 9 to 13.
Every lesson, he would bend me over his knee and give me the slipper. It didn't matter what my work was like either  >:(
Had to laugh though, 15 years ago, I rewired one of my old teachers house.
Over a cuppa we got onto the subject of "Johnson" and how much  I hated him.
He just smiled and said .............. even his own mother hated him  ;D ;D

2/.  Spell checkers and computers.     How many people actually write nowdays  :-\

One of the more recent causes of this problem would appear to be the larger number of folks accessing the site on "smart phones" .. which seem to have inbuilt "mis-spelling" CODECS ... I'm sure the excuse will be the small screens and even smaller keyboards .. but most of them also have built in spell checkers ... but you are right ... it does appear to be getting worse ...  :)

I, more or less, use my phone to browse the forum all the time and have no problems. 'Fraid it's just down to laziness.
