Another sad day for me
« on: 03 November 2011, 23:12:32 »

Another day, more sad news :'(

A friend of mine, who appeared to be winning his battle with a serious illness, has been taken away overnight last night :'(

He was 39 years old and leaves behind a wife, children and a very close family :'(

Another sad day in the world and a very blunt reminder that our time on this sublunary abode is too short  :'(

Sorry to here this Paul, it seems you can never tell when your time is up.
I heard today of someone I know, through work, a client's parent not a colleague,  passed away on Monday, he was a couple of years younger than me with a similar but less serious medical condition than myself, which strongly reminded me of my own vulnerability...... :( :(

There are many way in which we look upon such sad events and each will have their own - whether or not we progress in some form after we make the transition from life to death is a matter for debate but the following provides some inspiration for me, and perhaps for you;

I am standing on the sea shore.  A ship sails in the morning breeze and starts for the ocean.  She is an object of beauty and I stand watching her till at last she fades on the horizon and someone at my side says:

"She is gone."

Gone! Where?

Gone from my sight - that is all.

She is just as large in the masts, hull and spars as she was when I saw her
and just as able to bear her load of living freight to its destination.  The diminished size and total loss of sight is in me, not in her.

And just at the moment when someone at my side says, “She is gone", there are others who are watching her coming, and other voices take up a glad shout:  "There she comes"

And that is dying.  An horizon and just the limit of our sight.

Lift us up, Oh Lord, that we may see further.

Yep, well aware of that. Fortunately my problems aren't life threatening and for that I'm grateful ;)

Very sorry to hear about your sad loss, when someone passes away it is never easy, but I have always found it much, much worse when they are young, you have my sincere sympathies.
