134.9p for unleaded and 139.9p for diesel near me; and despite crude prices falling recently I've noticed the prices have gone up ~1p in the last week or so at half the stations.

How much do you think it'll be by Christmas 2012? £2 per litre?

I reckon around £1.60 a litre is roughly where it will be.  ::)

Greedy resellers on the LPG front I think.

Diesel being more expensive doesn't really bother me. I go twice as far on a tankful compared to the other one running on petrol!
Agreed Andy  :y

Though when I do drive the V6 the sound, smoothness and responsiveness is in another league.... But during the week trundling to work and back i'm perfectly happy the DTi

Andy, did you ever get your DTi remapped?

Nope.  :-[

Got Jane's estate de-Cat'd (Thanks Mr Loo Knee!) but haven't touched mine. Spotted a P-Box on Ebay recently but it went for more than I was prepared to spend.

Might be tempted to do something with mine in the New Year as i'm happy the engine is in good health now.

The price of crude may have dropped... but the pound/dollar has dropped as well .. :(

It is worth considering that all oil is bought in dollars, so the exchange rate has a very major efect on the price paid. The exchange rate has been extremely volatile over the past year..

http://www.oanda.com/currency/historical-rates

and this has probably had a greater effect than the actual quoted price of crude in dollars.

Fuel we are buying now was bought on the oil market some months ago when Libya was in turmoil which is another factor.

Matters not what you and I think is right or wrong... we lack the accurate facts, and the general facts are ... poor exchange rate, rising demand, volatile markets ... these all add to instability and high prices.

petrols cheaper than diesel because when they heat the crude oil to produce the diesel, they inadvertantly "crack" the oil into different molecular structures (petrol, diesel, tar, kerosene etc)
all they do is basically boil it lol! refractory distilation if my memory serves me right :P

I can fully recommend a remap. Makes quite a difference :) I sold my Cat for £15.00 scrap  ;D :y

Even if the fuel was free, the duty would still have it costing more than it was 5 years ago...

8 pence per litre difference here between petrol and diesel...

I've not checked their price, are they comparable to the Kingshill Esso? which usually matches the local supermarkets, except possibly Asda.

Usually a penny or two dearer......however as i live marlborough rd end of old town......im usually heading towards that garage when i need fuel.....it makes no sense to me, to drive in the 'wrong' direction, to save 25/30p .....i'd use that fuel in going to the Esso garage  :y
