HELP ASAP! Oil Leak?
« on: 22 November 2011, 16:29:30 »

evening guys,

just bought an omega, and accepted a new job 33 miles away to fund it, but already i've got a huge oil leak.

Had a nosy about and all i can say is it's leaking somewhere above the gearbox? anybody got any advice,

Also do we have any mechanics/members in doncaster/sheffield/wetherby area that could fix it if it's not simple?

thanks in advance

Being a four pot i'd say its the cam cover gasket, give it a wash down and have another look. Not a hard job to fix yourself if you which end of a spanner is which.

If this is the problem i'd also suggest fitting a breather box to the crank vent pipe

Cheers
Andy

Possible camcover gasket. Whip the plugs out, if wells are full of oil there`s your oil leak

Havent looked there yet, not very mechanically minded, if i can see where its leaking from then i can pull apart and re-fit but no good at diagnostics.

Will check in the spark plugs tomorrow, would it sound any different? and how much are the camcover gaskets roughly?

thanks guys  :y

Use gen vx cam cover seals or you will be doing them again in a couple of months.
