is there a dog whisperer in the house
« on: 23 November 2011, 21:31:01 »

As a many here know, Molly the Mutt arrived courtesy of the forum. However we already had a cat, who, on seeing Molly disappeared upstairs & has lived there since. It hasn't really been a problem for either of them though.  ;D
But ........... on Sunday afternoon SWMBO found two young cats - maybe 16 weeks old :-\ - as the were cold & very hungry they were duly brought home and spent a few day and nights in the relative warmth of my garage. Notices were put up at mine & her work asking if anyone wanted them. So far no takers. I know there are places that would take them, but in case no volunteers come forward I tried to see if I could get the cats & dog to accept each other. Tonight Molly went into her cage (that she's not been in for a few months  :-\) and the cats were brought down in a cat carrier. One stopped where it was, but surprisingly, the more timid of the two came out ....................... till he saw Molly who barked. He shot back in the carrier & had an 'accident'.
Do I try to make them like each other, let them stay upstairs with the other she cat who has so far only spat at the kittens, or continue to find home/take them to Bleakholt?
Anyone here wants to step forward?  ::) ::) ::) ::)

We have a dog and a cat, the dog came first as a pup and the cat, as a kitten a year later.....
At first the cat was hissing spitting and hiding from the dog, but they are now the best of friends and will say hello to each other before us when the cat comes in....  Had the same at home when I was a Kid, so in time they may well all settle down and get on with each other..... :y

first thing to do .. members of house took the new cats (one by one)  in arms and pet them including the dog but  some distantance for safety so that they all can see they belong to this house and owned by masters.. repeated a few days , then they will get the message.. but they need time..

once in the past, our cats dont touch hamsters even they were free , only they bring the hamsters to us ;D

I would try feeding them at the same time in the same space - decent distance apart of course

Sadly, I don`t think I`m 'a cat person'.......not sure why, though! :-[

;) I was told (many years ago), that once a Border Collie has touched your heart; your heart belongs only to them.....so maybe it`s true. :-\

Mrs. KW says some photos might help. :y

I won't show them to her, obviously, otherwise we'll be heading up the M6 with a cat cage on the back seat. ::)
