Crashed Omega..
« on: 06 December 2011, 16:34:52 »

This morning I had a slight knock in my beloved Miggy, (don't worry the other car WAS an impreza but alas another import off the road)
Now here is the problem..  I have bent the front cross member of the car, and now needs replacing..   is this part a bolt on or does it need cutting and welding..??

Also my Irmscher front bumper was cracked so i need that welding (any ideas of who can do that?)
And have pressed the bonnet in slightly.. (so need a new one if anybody has a spare..)

Any body shop "should" be able to repair the plastics. And the cross member behind the bumper with pollystyrene(?) insert just bolts on. Not a bad job.

Irmscher air dam front bumper is not a common item, and very expensive. Repair if at all possible.

Like DLK says, I think the crossmember is the VERY strong steel one, I buckled one on a V6 and had to replace it. Mine was not bolted, it had to be welded on, and you may find more damage when you start removing parts.
edit:- There is a sheet steel one behind the bumper, but a heavier one behind that, anyone got a diagram?

Hmmm, on re reading, some clarification is needed.

Is the cross member painted the same colour as the car?

Or was once painted black and is now rusty and grey? This part is bolted on.

I suspect the panel is the one marked 214. (Crossmember)

If its the one marked 110 it's a doddle. (Bumper reinforcement) If you hit a car at 20, I am sure it will be the cheap one, fingers crossed.

Its the one the bumper fixes too, the one with the washer fluid bottle attached, directly in front of the radiator and fans (which weren't damaged)..

I believe its the one marked 214
