Mot Repairs And few other bits
« on: 23 January 2012, 20:10:27 »

Evening all hope all I'd well in land of OOF!!! ::)

I've just had my MOT Failure and all 4 bushes have failed on the front the two rear shockers need replacing and a tyre so not too bad (£171.56)

Also my rocker cover gaskets need replacing

Also I am having problems with coolant loss after 2-3 days no leaks visible but when I put coolant in it will last for a day or two then leak from above GBOX and empty the tank again and am stuck as to what it is the HBV was done last year just put new plugs in.

Also gearbox seams to hold gears every now and then turn engine off and back on and it's fine

When I changed the plugs there was cup fulls of oil in plug 6/4/3/1 have cleared that out

The reason I'm telling you all this is I am asking for some help From a local OOF member please I need help

Classic symptoms of failed cam cover gaskets, make sure who ever does it use genuin vx parts (including the grout) and do both sides at the same time.

As for the coolant leak check around the hbv again, get a good torch and see if you can find any dried or even wet coolant the try and see where the source is. The shocks should be too shocking ( ;D ) as I'm guessing there the normal ones and not s/l ones.

I wanted to do the work myself and just wondered if anyone wanted to help coz I'm unsure espicallyThe rocker gaskets or is there a tutorial on here or anywhere that would help me

Pretty much every guide you could need is in the Maintenance Section. Why not give it a go and save some dosh at the same time. If you don't do it right they'll still need doing so nought to lose IMO :y
