I have a old Orbit xda which I used on O2 a few years back.
Looking to use the thing as a 2nd phone / business phone in a few months but I can't find any of the chargers / leads.
The socket on the back of the phone looks similar to the small usb that fits into satnavs and digital cameras, but on one side it is squared off.
Does anybody on here know what this type of plug is called ?
I have looked on ebay but tbh, they just look like the type for my tomtom
I'm looking for a lead from the phone to my laptop.
That way, I can charge it up from the laptop and make sure it is working first before I shell out an buy a mains / car charger
Thanks
It's called "mini USB", since then we have moved on to what is called "micro USB" which is pretty much the de-facto standard for mobile devices these days.
I remember when the Orbit first came out, a very good bit of kit in it's time but unfortunately quite dated by todays standards due to it's limited hardware (200MHz CPU, 128MB ROM, 64MB RAM).
It is quite possible to make Android run on that spec, but as Jaime has already pointed out it's not going to be a case of just flashing a new ROM so you are probably best off leaving the default Windows Mobile OS on it.
IIRC, the SatNav software was only "free" on certain tariffs so you may find that map updates are now chargeable.
I'm guessing from your original post that it hasn't been used for a good while so there is a distinct possibility that the battery won't hold a decent charge, but that won't stop you from using an external power source.
