why i bought another omega
« on: 14 February 2012, 13:23:44 »

A few years ago i was given a 2ltr 16v omega by my brother it was the CDX model with all the trimmings and auto petrol, lovely car to drive and really miss it to be honest :( anyway the reason i went out and bought another omega was because the car saved my life with i had a crash a few years back and i was told by the police, fire brigade, Ambulance crew, paramedics, doctors etc that i shouldnt of walked away from the crash  because non of my air bags went off in the car but i WAS wearing my seatbelt, here are a few pictures that i have found of the omega in its sad state :'( :'(

After the crash i woke up in the hospital with my family around me on a spinal board and collar which to be honest thats what hurt the most, my family not know if i was going to come round or not but hey i amd here and alive and kicking because the way i see it was that the omega saved my life with the way it was built so this is why i had to go out and buy another one :y

Not sure if you would be interested in my story but i thought i would share it with you

Regards
Tony

It's never nice to see a car in that state, but it's great that you are here to tell the tale mate.

Having taken a few Omegas apart now, you do realise just how well built they are.  I had my 3.2 Elite Estate on a weigh bridge recently.  With only a set of wheels in the boot, a few tools, no occupants, and very little fuel, she weighed in at 1.9 tonnes!!  I for one am very happy to have all that metalwork around me.  :y

Opps!

Mind you, my little Rover has jousting marks in the same area, with the additional benefit of a jousting mark down the drivers side.  Spookily, same colour as your old Omega.

Welcome back to the Omega fold :y

swmbo hit a deer recently, the bumper needed a screw putting in it to hold it back in the wheel arch, the strip of bodywork under the headlight and the washer bottle broke, other than muck no other evidence to suggest what had happened :y......deer did not survive sadly.

That's one reason why you can't beat a big car, smaller ones are just a crumple zone . . . :o
